Knowing

From here i see

skin against skin

cell with cell

chapped lips

bright eyes

wide as mine

in a look

we spanned the distance

shared in a breath.

Love this. Incredible intimacy conveyed with powerful, simple language. In this poem I see an evolution from a state of discreteness, through a state of mutual realization of similarity/compatibility, and finally to a synchronous union. Our subject and his object dissolve throughout the poem into a breath…we don’t know who “looked” at the end – and it does not matter. To me this is the eternal story told in the language of lovers. Thanks for sharing this gem 🙂
